AIR
NEW ZEALAND DOUBLES SERVICES TO SAN FRANCISCO....
Air
New Zealand have now increased the frequency of
its Auckland - San Francisco service from three
to six days a week. Services will intially be
operated with a mix of the airline's new Boeing
777-200 ER and refitted Boeing 747-400 aircraft,
with the new seating and in-flight entertainment
product. The plan is to have by mid-December the
route fully operated by the new B777s.
Timings
of the Auckland - San Francisco return services
Tuesday to Sunday are as follows:
Depart
Auckland 7.00pm & arrive San Francisco
10.15am (local - same day)
Depart
San Francisco 7.15pm (local) & arrive
Auckland 5.15am (plus 2 days)
FROM
THE PEN OF KEITH MILLER....
I
recently travelled to Melbourne and return same
day on the new Air New Zealand 777 aircraft, over
Premium Economy class and back in Business
Premier Class.
This
is a wonderful aircraft, the Premium Economy
configuration is 3 on the side, 3 in the middle
and 3 on the side. The seating is behind Business
Premier and in front of Economy class. Extra leg
room and more comfortable seats and certainly it
is a step up from Economy class. You can also
check in at the Business class counter.
Entertainment screens in the back of each seat
for Premiun Economy and Economy class is a much
awaited improvement for Air New Zealand.
Business
Premier has a configuration of 1 seat on each
window and 2 in the middle, but the two in the
middle are not as such together, they are angled
away from each other, not so ideal for two
persons travelling together. My recommendation
would be for a couple to take two window seats,
there is an ottoman footrest which doubles as a
visitors seat. The new lie-flat bed is a huge
improvement, even I could lie full lenght and all
seats have direct aisle access. The Entertainment
screen in Business class is of generous size.

SINGAPORE
AIRLINES TAKES IN-FLIGHT CONNECTIVITY FURTHER....
Customers
now flying to New York via Frankfurt can
literally access the world from thier seats, some
35000 feet in the sky, when Singapore Airlines
extends the "Connexion by Boeing"
service to its SQ26 (Singapore - Frankfurt - New
York) and SQ25 (New York - Frankfurt - Singapore)
Service.
Connexion
by Boeing is an in-flight wireless broadband
service that provides customers in all three
classes with real-time, high-speed and secure
internet.
Through
the Connexion by Boeing facility, customers of
Singapore Airlines with wireless-enabled laptops
can send and receive emails, connect real-time
with their corporate virtual private network or
watch BBC World, Euro News, Eurosport News and
CNBC TV channels live from their laptops.
In-flight
connectivity on Singapore Airlines services will
be enhanced further in 2006 as this facility is
progressively made available on more services,
and when live global TV is extended to customers'
individual seat-back screens.
