USEFUL
NEWS:

KIWIS
CAN JOIN AUSSIE QUEUE....
New
border control arrangements at Sydney, Melbourne
and Brisbane airports mean that arriving New
Zealand and Australian passport holders can now
queue in the same lanes to pass through Customs
and Immigration checks.

TRAVELLING
TO THE UNITED STATES....
Pengellys
would like to advise that implemented from the 04
October 2005 additional Advanced Passenger
Information (API) is now required for all
passengers travelling to the USA for example, a
contact address in the USA, including and most
importantly the zipcode. Passengers will
need to provide both passport and non passport
information at time of check-in. At this
stage airlines will need to collect this
information at check-in (hopefully in the near
future you will be able to give this information
to your Pengellys Travel Consultant, but at
this stage the airlines are still working on the
technology).
PASSPORTS
MORE THAN DOUBLE IN PRICE....
From
now on new passports will contain a microchip
which carries the holder's photo and details as
seen in the inside cover. Internal
affairs' Minister Rick Barker says New Zealand is
joining other countries in ensuring passports
cannot be defrauded or misused by criminals and
terrorists. The new e-passport comes at a
higher cost with the new adult application
fee more than doubling, rising from around
70-dollars to 150-dollars, with a
new validity of now 5 years (down from
10 years). Current passports will remain
valid until their date of expiry.
